If you have you heart set on a genuine wooden worktop you belong to almost a club of people who treasures a long list the veins, or the glow, or the eventual patina or the feel and the lineage of that piece of the forrest that now forms your kitchen worktop. Or all of the above. And to most of that group of our customers, the extra care that genuine wood demands is not a minus - it is way to groom for the fact that the work still is full of life and character, that grows when groomed and buffed.
Design
Structure - Kvik Oak excels in veins and end grain Oak comes in several dimensions, and the 'fat' dimensions give a lush character. It also comes in several different finishes and nuances - mainly du different pigmenting of the protective oil applied.
Edges - Because Kvik oak is massive, it's looks are the same inside of it, it invites to creativyty for our pro carpenters as well as DIY's
Oak puts a few design limits to what styles you can choose when sink mounting and tap mount is posible in you project. Please talk to your local Kvik consultant
Function
Oak is strong and robust, and it shows its robustness in its apppearance. At Kvik we use carefully selected cuts and sections of oak timber to form glulam that gives all the reliabilyty strength and consistent straightness in its lifespan. Oak may be resanded several times, in case of surface damage.
Sustainability
Kvik Oak and the massive wood tops are all FSC-certified wood and have the second lowest CO2 footprint* of all our worktops, mainly because it is highly recyclable, and because proces transportation is limitied.

User perspective
Like all massive wood worktops, they are easy to be around. Daily cleaning is easy, but we suggest regular care is left in the hands of grown ups.
What shoul I know before I decide on an oak worktop ?
This is a list that include some of our best advice - and some the questions, we most frequently answer on Oak worktops
Genuine and natural materials are not cheap, and all our massive wood worktops are in the mid to high range concerning the unit costs. Oak is the most affordable of the massive wood worktops
The costs related to cutting and fitting the material to your kitchen design, as well as the finish are in low end - and essentially the same as regular laminate.
The veins, the grain and is some nuances the glow. The feeling of wood under your fingertips.
The regualr care: as a kitchen worktop you cannot neglect its need for oil treatment
The warranty is the same as all Kvik - worktops: a 5 year warranty. The terms of that warranty is of course clearly explained the warranty documents of your purchase.
A general piece of advice is to never exceed what is normal use in a private kitchen. If you do, you may forfeit you warranty in case of claims case.
Helpful advice may be:
Never ever perform cutting or chopping directly on the worktop. Always use a cutting board. Keep nice ones like this at hand while working
Never put items too hot hold in the palm of your hand directly on the surface - always keep a nice potrack or a coaster like this close when working
Demanding is a relative term - but hardwoods are the care and maintenance demanding material Kvik offers. Because its porouse nature, hardwood will soak up moisture you put on it. For this reason, Kvik stronlgy recommend the continuous oiling procedure as was applyed from the factory. Otherwise the it will warp due to water and moisture in general, and it will stain due to liquids. Close the surface with worktop oil and schedule it up your calendar
