The kitchen has evolved beyond its utilitarian roots in recent years to become a hub for socialising throughout the day. We call this The Sociable Kitchen® and it’s a cornerstone of our whole approach to kitchens. So we’re always looking for ways to give you even more possibilities to be social in your kitchen.

 

One easy way to add a social element to your kitchen is the humble bar stool. Previously only spotted in restaurants and bars, this versatile seating offers a multitude of benefits for creating a sociable space where family and friends can comfortably gather while you make dinner.

Bar stools provide a sense of openness in your kitchen and create a more connected and interactive atmosphere. While hosting, they encourage guests to join you while cooking, bridging the gap between the chef and everyone else. During the everyday, it’s a natural place for kids to perch for homework or couples to share their morning coffee before dashing off to work.

In homes with limited dining space, bar stools are a space-saving saviour and in larger kitchens, they create another area to hang out or eat a quick meal at the island or counter. Better still, they can be tucked neatly away, maximising the available floor space and making your kitchen feel more expansive.

Jigger & Barley — our new line of bar stools.

While creating our new line of bar stools, we knew we wanted something long-lasting. Both because it craftsmanship is important to us and because we always embrace timeless Danish design. We wished to use beautiful natural materials and colours that, in the hands of our skilled craftsmen, would transform into chairs that feel right at home in every kitchen.

This desire resulted in two new bar stool designs — Jigger and Barley. Two very different but very classic designs with customisable features that will suit any home.

Jigger

If cosmopolitan charm is more your vibe, the Jigger, with its elegant mix of wood, metal and fabric, is a perfect choice. Its low backrest ensures extra support for more leisurely comfort and its simple, clean lines will fit nicely across various kitchen styles.

Barley

If you’re feeling more rustic, consider our urban cowboy, the Barley. Whether you opt for dark or light solid oak, this slim creation (with a depth of 30cm) is perfect for tucking under counters. For a more sophisticated look, add beautiful, natural aniline leather seats for a touch more comfort and a touch more style.

No matter your preference, both are designed to sit under most countertops (those of approx. 95cm in height) and are made with the very best materials – from FSC® certified oak and heavy calibre metal to OEKOTEX® certified fabrics and genuine aniline saddle leathers.
